Dora the Explorer for a Day
Finally, the most challenging part of the our overall community exposure has come- the house-to-house survey. Just imagine surveying a barangay with almost 600 households and attempting to actually interview each household under the heat of the sun, trying your best to speak their dialect even though you end up talking like an alien, and having to walk from one purok to the other, can you feel the exhaustion already? We must say, it was beyond tiring, but for the love of Barangay Maras, we were able to endure it all.
To be honest, the experience was somehow different from what we expected. We thought that it would be just like any other interview wherein you just ask the people of what you wanted to ask then you say your goodbyes and that's it. But, it actually wasn't. Even though we didn't get to stay that long for each interview, it's as if you made a great impact in their lives because it's new to them that there are actual people who cares enough to go beyond their ways just to ask them how they are doing and what are their needs. As simple as blood pressure taking means a lot to them already. You can see how these simple things can put a smile in their faces.
