Puhon, Barangay Maras

How time flies! In just a blink of an eye, we are finally done with our community immersion. I can still vividly remember as if it was just yesterday when our doctors dropped us off at the barangay hall of Maras. We all had these clueless looks on our faces not knowing what to do, and just started unpacking our bags. We had no idea what was in store for us but we just went with it and trusted our instincts. With that, our journey in Barangay Maras began.

At some point during our final week, we were overwhelmed with nostalgia. For the last time, we decided to roam and look around our community. To think that we are already saying our goodbyes to the residents of Maras is unfathomable. The feeling is bittersweet. After all we’ve been through, we are just glad and proud of ourselves that we were able to make it through together. Although that's good news, it's also sad because of the attachments we will be leaving behind. No words can ever be enough to express the gratitude we feel towards our not so little community. To reecho the words of our preceptor, it is not just us who have changed the community, moreover is is the community itself that has had such a profound effect on our development as individuals and as future physicians.

We are filled with gratitude as we write this entry. We are thankful for everything that has happened, both good and bad. We are grateful to have been deployed in Maras. We are grateful to every member of this team. We are grateful to have had experienced all of this. For some reason, things just felt right. We feel like a part of us have been renewed and this wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for these people and these experiences.

As we bid goodbye to Barangay Maras, we weren't able to hold back our tears. This place will surely hold a special place in our hearts. Our beloved community, the past  four years have been great. You were both our escape and our home away from home. Thank you for these fruitful years. We will be back, our beloved community. Mamingaw gud name limo. Once again, DAGHANG SALAMAT, BARANGAY MARAS. Until we meet again. Puhon!
